Installing 300 Amps of Solar Charge Controllers
I'm installing 3 solar MPPT charge controllers into my Schneider off grid system. Each of these MPPT charge controllers can accept up to 600 Volts from the PV array, and charge the battery at 100 Amps. Schneider is known for it's industrial equipment, and these charge controllers are no different. These can run at full load (100A) continuous in an environment up to 40°C (104°F).

How efficient is this Army generator? MEP-831A

How much energy can we make per gallon of diesel fuel? I'll be testing an Army generator's fuel economy while re-charging my off grid solar battery bank. The military generator is model MEP-831A. It's a single cylinder, Yanmar L-70 diesel engine. In the winter, there isn't enough solar energy to keep my battery bank full. I supplement my off grid system with a generator. OK, gotcha. This module would have originally been built to be part of some large system. For example, I've seen shipping containers with hundreds of these modules. I replaced that with a stand-alone BMS.

I was considering buying the Growatt 3500 Watts inverter/MPPT charge controller at 48V, but after talking to an installer who has experience with Growatt I changed my mind. He said that the inverter will shut down if the battery voltage drops below a certain threshold, but the MPPT will also shut off so the unit does not charge the batteries. He recommended that I get a separate MPPT charge controller and stay away from the All-in -one unit like the Growatt. Just saying.

They say it can't be done but those who say it can't be done or being interrupted by those who are doing it now I am wondering instead of using a gasoline motor what about an electric motor. Can we get that to pull off of an electric motor where it recycles off of the in a 220 volt motor motor that will turn the same RPMs is that that's needed for the alternator

change the alternator's stator to Delta from why connectionlp two double the output

David, I loved your project. By any standard it is a success. Reading the comments obviously you can optimise it in many ways, however, what strikes me as your project's greatest strength is that it is all a made from available parts. Arguably you could repair/keep this thing going in a zombie apocolypse! Anyone can go and spend $3k++ on something sophisticated, but can they repair and keep it going if their life depended on it. As a pragmatic engineer I say, if that was your goal then you 'hit the nail right on the head'. Keep up the good work.

Is it possible to make this system work with only a smart phone no lap top and a weak internet hotspot???

I think so, but I can't say 100% because I used a laptop. First, Schneider knows that a lot of customers don't have internet, so this is how you get around it. 1. Find internet somewhere (coffee shop, library, etc.) 2. Download the firmware file to your device. (laptop, tablet, etc) 3. Go to the insight home location. 4. connect to the insight home's wifi signal 5. Open the insight home using an internet browsing software (ie. Crome) 6. Follow the rest of the steps in the video to find the firmware file on your device.

@DavidPozEnergy thanks for responding. Maybe I could put together a list of question's and you could do a video about solving these infantile issues as they arise. There are so many settings... I'm not used to this level of functionality. All my other systems where plug and play. But I can't argue with its performance! It's outstanding charging my Tesla and running my farm with one inverter! I do still wish they would sell a hard wired control panel though...

As a licensed electrician, I am very intrigued that these little alternators are simple 3 phase motors. I had no idea, and now I will be experimenting with this myself. Also, I have to say; I am very impressed at your cleanliness with your wiring, proper gauges (even when you weren't sure on the output amperage, you anticipated well!) Followed!

Excellent work. I too live off-grid and I have a similar size engine sitting in my workshop for over 2 years, just waiting for me to do exactly this. So it was great to see how you made yours. I think the only change I would make is to have the engine and alternator mounted on the same plate to stop the engine vibration affecting the belt. You've inpired me to get to work on my build!!

I agree with you. Check out video part 2 and 3. In part 2, I welded a steel base for both the engine and alternator, which took care of vibrations. I also did some thermal imaging tests. In part 3, I fine-tuned fuel efficiency.

dont use a charger. use a DC-DC konverter for your Battery voltage. LIFEPO Batterymanagement does the rest

I have watched your series on Schneider so many times, I can say your words! lol. Anyway, I came back to this video to see how you turned it on because today is the day I am turning mine on. I hope I won't see smoke! Thanks for all you have done in documenting this so others can learn from it.

@@DavidPozEnergy Got it done! I had your video going and I was doing mine at the same time you did yours on your video!!! So happy and thrilled this part is over. I am like you- I am not good with computers, so thank you for showing this literally step-by-step. So easy, even I can do it.

You should not add drain holes. Modern Air Conditioners use the condensate water to cool the hot outer coil. The outer fan has a ring which is used to splash water on the condenser coil. If you make holes to drain water, this can no longer work properly.
